Star Trek Into Darkness 2013
Let me begin by saying that I loved the 2009 reboot, so I walked into this movie with high hopes. Even with high hopes I was not disapppointed. This was awesome on so many levels. There were just so much, it was funny, heaps of action, visually impressive, and of course Benedict Cumberbatch being awesome in every scene. I don't know how this compares to the old films, but for this year, this could have been the best movie so far. This is a must see for everyone, 3D may not be necessary but I still found it alright even though I usually hate it. Go watch with the biggest screen possible. I imagine it would blow your mind in IMAX. Try not to notice the lens flares.

The Silence Of The Lambs 1991
I only saw this movie recently because I thought it was horror and until now, I had always stayed awayed from horror (yes big baby). However I regret not watching this movie a lot earlier. It is definitely one of the most amazing movies ever. Something that everyone should watch as soon as possible. Nothing in the movie is really scary, it is just incredible how well the actors/actresses portray their characters (obviously referring to Anthony Hopkins). I really don't know what else to say about this movie, its just excellent. Recommend buying and watching now. Please comment if you didn't enjoy this movie because you might be the first.
In The Loop 2009
I do not often like comedy movies. I mean some bits are funny but overall just never think it is an excellent movie. However there are always exceptions, and In The Loop is one of them. This black comedy political satire is interesting in the way it develops the idea of war being started as a decisions made by politicians and how they interpret and deliver information the way they like it. The main reason I like this movie will become obvious when you watch, and that is the character of Malcolm Tucker. Just look up his best moments on YouTube He is gold. Definitely one of my favourite characters of all time. It is a feature length spin off of the show The Thick Of It, however I watched the film without any knowledge of the T.V show and still enjoyed. I recommend going to the closest store that has this film and buying/renting it to enjoy immediately. Not one of the best movies ever, but it needs to be enjoyed at least once.
Oblivion 2013
Pretty good. I don't have much to say about this movie besides that because it doesn't do anything much more then that. It gives you pretty standard science fiction story line, some cool actors (Morgan Freeman, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) and some cool, visually appealing special effects. So if you are looking to just be somewhat entertained for 2 hours, this will deliver. However the reason I do not love this movie and why my recommendation is not paying to watch in cinema, is Oblivion had the potential for so much more. Being a science fiction movie allows it to delve into mind boggling concepts like, what makes up you? is it your DNA or is it something else? Effects on environment of war and so on. Although the movie touches on the topics it doesn't go deep enough to make it a really excellent story. I say again its pretty good but it could have been a lot more. Watch on DVD or sometime later when you have time.

Gangster Squad 2013
First movie of 2013. Maybe I had my hopes too high for a gangster film that had Sean Penn, Josh Brolin, Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling plus more in the cast, but I was quite disappointed. Seems like it could have been cooler/better. The plot is somewhat too predictable and although some of it is fun to watch, I quite enjoyed the nostalgic feel with the music and setting. However the villain of Micky Cohen was kind of meh and forgettable. Would recommend for people who want to see Ryan Gosling or Emma Stone, they really make this film worth watching. As a whole though I would probably say don't bother spending money on it.

Les Miserables 2012
Movie event of the year? not really. Don't get me wrong, I loved this movie. If you are familiar with the story of Jean Valjean then you will know nearly any retelling would be pretty awesome. I have not seen, read any other version of it so this was my first les mis thing. I would say it was pretty good with good performances from all the main characters. Would recommend paying money to watch at cinemas for those who enjoy song, for those who arent so keen on the music, wait to rent it or something. I was waiting for a pause in the music, for someone to say their lines but it never came but I still enjoyed all the music.
